Medicare First is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated social worker to work full time working within Looked After Team based in Oldham . The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children’s services and be registered with the HCPC.

The pay rate for this locum social worker job is £25.02 per hour and is an initial 3-month contract.

Key responsibilities

1.

To undertake statutory social work with children who are Looked After, providing support, assessment of their ongoing and changing needs and interventions which will secure their welfare

2.

To ensure each child has a detailed Care Plan which can be presented to Review, in consultation with the practice manager.

3.

To promote placement stability and permanence for looked after children.

4.

To maximise the life chances of looked after children through education, health care and leisure opportunities

5.

To promote participation of looked after children in relation to their individual care and wider issues affecting looked after children.

6.

To ensure child protection procedures and processes are followed in relation to looked after children.

7.

To prepare and maintain case records and carry out administrative tasks as required.

8.

To observe all statutory regulations in relation to children and family work with particular reference to the Children Act 1989, the Adoption and Children Act 2002, Fostering Service Regulations 2002 and the Criminal Justice Act.

9.

To represent the Directorate by presenting both written and oral evidence in Court Proceedings.

10.

To liaise with other members of the Directorate and other services and agencies to acquire services for looked after children.

11.

To carry responsibility for a caseload.

12.

To attend all regular supervision sessions as required by the practice Manager

13.

To prepare for, attend as required, all case conferences, planning meetings and reviews.

14.

To provide a Duty Social Work Service for looked after children.

15.

To contribute to the development of the Looked After Service, and to its efforts to improve services to Looked After children

Requirements of the social worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within children’s services
  • 2 years post qualified with experience within local authority child protection teams
